Custom cabinetry and built-ins
Kitchens, pantries, libraries, mudrooms, and the casework that makes a room feel finished. Drawn for the house, built in the shop, installed by the same person.

What this includes
Kitchens and the pieces around them: pantries, islands when they are furniture rather than a stock box, vanities, mudroom lockers, window seats, and libraries. If it is casework that has to meet your floor and your ceiling, it belongs here.
Dressing rooms and fireplace walls in wood sit in the same work. The category is the kind of piece, not a list of rooms from a catalog.
How it is made
I measure the room, then draw the piece: elevations, wood, hardware, and the way a door sits in its opening. Inset doors when the room wants a fitted look. Overlay when a quieter face is right. Drawer boxes that slide square.
The wood is part of the drawing. Quartersawn white oak, rift-sawn white oak, walnut, maple, and cherry are the species I return to. Painted work is poplar or maple under the paint. The finish is decided before the first board is milled.
On site
Old houses are rarely square. New ones are closer, and still not perfect. The install is where the piece meets the plaster. I scribe and hang the work myself. There is no second crew seeing the job for the first time.
